Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland PRIORITY Coastal Waters Wind Warning For coastal waters from Double Island Point to Point Danger, including Moreton Bay, for Thursday afternoon and evening. Issued at 8:45 am EST on Wednesday 2 October 2013 Synoptic Situation A surface trough and an associated strong south to southeasterly wind change is expected to move north through far southern Queensland waters from late Thursday afternoon. Strong Wind Warning Double Island Point to Point Danger Expect south to southeasterly winds 25 to 33 knots to develop from the south from late Thursday afternoon. Seas increasing to 3 metres. Strong Wind Warning Moreton Bay Expect south to southeasterly winds 25 to 30 knots to develop Thursday evening. Seas increasing to 1 to 2 metres. The next warning will be issued by 5 pm AEST. Please be aware Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height. [close]
