Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Cancellation Of Severe Weather Warning for Metropolitan and Illawarra Forecast Districts. Issued at 9:53 pm Sunday, 14 December 2025. A vigorous southerly wind change that produced damaging winds about exposed Sydney and Illawarra coastal locations has entered the Hunter coastal areas and eased below warning thresholds. Weather Situation A vigorous southerly wind change traversed the Illawarra and Sydney coasts this evening. cancellation of severe weather warning for the following areas: Metropolitan and Illawarra This warning is now cancelled. Other warnings may be current. Please check https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts/. Molineux Point reported mean wind of 80 km/h and wind gust of 107 km/h at 9:08 pm. Wattamolla reported a wind gust of 113 km/h at 8:18 pm. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Keep clear of fallen power lines. * Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. No further warnings will be issued for this event.
