Warning for the following areas:
Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego
Cancellation for the following areas:
Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Central West and Central Highlands and Coalfields

Safety Advice:
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.

Maximum temperatures generally in the low to high forties. Overnight minimum temperatures generally in the mid twenties to low thirties.

Severe heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the next few days before easing later in the weekend or the start of next week as a slightly milder southerly flow extends over the south of the state.

Severe heatwave conditions over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Central West and the Central Highlands and Coalfields has been cancelled however low intensity heatwave conditions are still expected through these areas for the next few days. Locations likely to be impacted include Birdsville, Bollon, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Quilpie, St George, Thargomindah and Windorah.

The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Friday 30 January 2026
